Jake Paul Flees Scene After Confrontation with Floyd Mayweather After Miami Heat Game
On Wednesday, an altercation broke out between YouTuber Jake Paul and legendary boxer Floyd Mayweather outside of the AmericanAirlines Arena in Miami. The incident occurred following the Miami Heat-Cleveland Cavaliers game and was caught on video by multiple bystanders.
In the video, one of Mayweather's associates was heard asking if they were going to "bust him up," referring to Jake Paul. The video then shows Paul turning and sprinting away from the group, with a few people momentarily giving chase.
The man recording the video commented on Paul's actions, saying "Look, he's running. Jake Paul running champ. Why is he running?"
Following the incident, Jake Paul addressed the altercation on Instagram, writing that he was effectively ambushed by Mayweather and his team outside the arena. "So I'm leaving the Miami Heat game and Floyd Mayweather and 50 dudes pull up out of nowhere," Paul said. "Out of some side alley waiting for me outside of the stadium. They're like 'what's up, what's all that talk now!'"
Paul went on to explain that he was simply confused about Mayweather's anger towards him, stating that he had only taken Mayweather's hat at a press conference promoting the boxer's exhibition bout against Logan Paul in 2021.
"I'm like first of all, what did I say to you, Floyd? I just took your hat and you're still mad about it? Come on, bro," Paul said. "Then 50 dudes literally start surrounding me trying to jump me. I'm out that (expletive)."
However, sources close to Mayweather claimed that the altercation was not solely about the hat incident, but also about comments made by Paul that were deemed inappropriate. These comments allegedly crossed the line from the usual trash talk between fighters, including remarks about Mayweather's deceased family member and other below-the-belt inappropriate behavior.
